Zelda is the sweetest 68 pound, 3 yr old girl. Once she learns she can trust you. she wants nothing more than to follow you around the yard to keep you company. She loves to have her ears rubbed and lots of petting.
Zelda was surrendered to our rescue because her previous owner wanted a working dog for his livestock, but she had no interest in keeping watch over the goats and sheep. She is a loving, sweet affectionate girl, not a working dog. She is very well behaved in the house and seems to be fine with the other dogs. She will neeed a securely fenced yard and we do not know how how would be with cats.  She isn't much of a traveler, as riding in a vehicle makes her pant and drool.  We are not sure about younger kids, so we can only adopt to a family with older, respectful kids. We would prefer she go to a home with adults only .
Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

OUT OF STATE adoptions are possible.  If you are working with For The Love Of Dogs/Vermont Dog Rescue, the additional fee is $200 to cover transportation costs and the health certificate, which is required to cross state lines.  Transport to other areas is dependent on location, fees, and availability of independent transport services.  You are always welcome to pick up your new family member.
We are a home based, not for profit organization in Northeast Alabama that helps place forgotten and unwanted pets in forever homes.  We are an all volunteer, 501(c)3  organization.  We rescue pets from high kill shelters, prior to being euthanized, as well as strays and unwanted pets.
We do not adopt to "outside only" homes nor do we adopt to anyone who wishes to crop, dock, or do any other alterations except the spaying and neutering of their pets.  All pets are completely vetted, up to date on all vaccines, and given rabies certificates.
